Life can be unpredictable and it’s important to be equipped with the tools to help! So, we have put together a list of training opportunities for you to explore, to be ready to help someone that may be thinking of suicide.

Free Training 

Zero Suicide Alliance Training

The ZSA offer a number of free training courses online that teach you the skills and confidence to have a potentially life-saving conversation with someone you’re worried about.

Grass Roots Real Talk Training Real Talk is a free 30-minute interactive film that helps you gain the skills and confidence to talk to someone about suicide. 

Suicide Prevention in the Workplace Worcestershire Public Health team are offering free suicide prevention awareness sessions for businesses across both Herefordshire & Worcestershire, in collaboration to the Now We’re Talking Campaign. Sessions last approximately 90 minutes and are delivered online.

We are Farming Minds Mental Health Awareness Workshop The charity offer FREE, in person mental health awareness training open to anyone living or working in or with the farming community in Herefordshire

 

Accredited Training Options

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) A 2 day suicide intervention training course that teaches participants how to assist those at risk for suicide through an active learning experience. Available from multiple providers.

Suicide First Aid A 1 day course that is designed to teach you how to recognise and intervene with someone at risk of suicide, while also exploring suicide safety. Available from multiple providers.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) A 2 day comprehensive mental health course delivered by MHFA England, which addresses suicide prevention. You can undertake the adult or youth course, whereby on completion you become a recognised MHFAider.
