Help with council tax

If you’re having difficulty paying your council tax, regardless of whether you currently receive Council Tax Reduction or not, Herefordshire Council might be able to reduce the amount you have to pay. To find out more about the Council Tax Discretionary Hardship Payment, visit Herefordshire Council’s website.

Herefordshire Council is allocated funding from Government to reduce Council Tax bills for working age and pension age Local Council Tax Support (LCTS) claimants by up to £25. If you are in receipt of Local Council Tax Support there is no need for you to contact us as the reduction will be automatically applied to your Council Tax bill for 2023-24.

If you’re on a low income, you may also be able to get help with paying your bill through the Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
