Orleton Good Neighbour Scheme

Remember the number - 07825 484 289

What is the Good Neighbour Scheme?

The Good Neighbour Scheme aims to support the community by getting together a team of volunteers to help people who are experiencing difficulty in their own homes.

The service is free and run entirely by Orleton volunteers. The volunteers’ time is free, but if expenses are incurred, we may need to ask for a small donation to cover these.

The scheme is not intended to replace carers, and the volunteers are not able to provide personal care.

Who can benefit from the scheme?

Our volunteers are happy to visit anyone who needs help and lives within the Parish of Orleton, particularly people who are: elderly, disabled, isolated, parents, carers.

We look forward to hearing from you, either if you need our help and support, or if you would like to volunteer.

Remember the number 07825 484 289.

How can the Scheme help you?

Essentially, by just doing things that good neighbours do for each other.

Below are a few examples of how the scheme might help you:

  • Fetching prescriptions
  • Occasional lifts to the surgery or hospital
  • Shopping and running errands, such as posting a letter.
  • Practical tasks around the home, such as changing a light bulb or hanging a picture
  • Help with forms and letters
  • Walking or feeding pets
  • Help with a computer
  • Giving information on other services you may need
  • Occasional light gardening work
  • Calling for a chat

Who are the volunteers?

The volunteers are local people who are prepared to give up a little of their time to help people in their community. They may be people you already know. So you can be confident about your safety all volunteers have been checked.

How do you arrange for a volunteer to visit you?

If you would like a volunteer to visit you please call us between the hours of 9.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday to arrange a visit. Most activity will take place between these times but it may be possible to arrange something outside of these times.

You may have to leave a message but we will get back to you as soon as possible. Contact: 07825 484 289
