C.A.R.E. (Herefordshire) CIC

G.V. Community Hub

G.V. Community Hub is located in Pontrilas, in the heart of the beautiful Golden Valley in South Herefordshire.

We have a number of different ventures within our hub, including G.V. Café and G.V. Fitness Centre, which are operated by C.A.R.E. (Herefordshire) CIC.

G.V. Community Hub: Our hub is a friendly, warm and inviting venue, which operates seven days a week and is open to everyone, of all ages and abilities. A place for you to socialise and enjoy time out, whilst engaging in fun activities based around breakfast and lunch clubs.

The hub is all on one level, so is fully accessible and wheelchair friendly, with an ample car park. We are Dementia Champions and provide dementia friendly activities.

We provide a 'village-link' service, enabling people to attend GP surgery appointments in the Golden Valley area, along with a befriending scheme. We also provide a weekly grocery and repeat prescription delivery service through our Pontrilas Village Stores and Post Office.

You can also book a place at our 'healthy feet clinic', or a massage or beauty treatment in one of our therapy rooms.

G.V. Café: This is a great place to meet up with friends or indeed make new friends. Our menu provides traditional homecooked food, along with delicious coffee and homemade cakes. If you are simply looking to enjoy pleasant conversations and good company, then you certainly wouldn’t be disappointed.

The cafe is open seven days a week from 9.30am to 2.30pm. During the week, we also offer weekly lunch clubs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, providing nutritional homecooked lunches, along with a host of weekly art and craft sessions. We offer free access to our community gym, G.V. Fitness Centre, every Tuesday as part of our Tuesday lunch club.

G.V. Fitness Centre: Our community gym is open seven days a week and is fully staffed with an amazing team of instructors. It offers a host of affordable gym and class memberships, for those wishing to improve their personal health and fitness. Find out more on our G.V. Fitness Centre page.

Talk Community Hub: We are also an official Talk Community Hub, in partnership with Herefordshire Council. A hub is:

  • A place where local people can access information and activities to support their wellbeing and independence.
  • A place that brings together and connects people to each other, to their community and to their local area.
  • Part of a network of Talk Community Hubs across Herefordshire, run by the community for the community.

Our Talk Community Hub is available within the G.V. Cafe, Monday to Friday, usually between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm.

We provide wellbeing support and signposting assistance, for people of all ages and abilities. You can use our laptops to access online services to help you set up 1-2-1 support meetings, transport assistance, workshops, courses and local events.  We have free Wi-Fi too!

You can learn more about services and support available to you in Herefordshire via the Talk Community Directory website.

Our hub staff and volunteers have received training, so they can help and support you in any way they can. Our ‘Talk Community Space’ enables you to find a private area to talk and find services that are readily available to help you.

C.A.R.E.’s primary aim has always been to help and support those who find themselves feeling lonely or indeed feel isolated and not connected to community life. Our social ethos is set to help combat loneliness and isolation, in a way that helps to promote and encourage better health and wellbeing outcomes for all individuals, regardless of age, race, religion or ability. We CARE and are here for ‘you’!

G.V. Café and G.V. Fitness Centre are proud to be part of C.A.R.E. (Herefordshire) CIC
