February half term activities in Herefordshire 2023

If you’re looking for ideas to help you and your family stay active and entertained during the February Half Term, there's lots of different activities and events taking place across Herefordshire.

Bike Right! - free cycle training
Tuesday 21 February, 1pm to 3pm

Places are still available for the intermediates cycle skills session, at Riverside Primary School.  Places are popular, and can be booked through the Bike Right! website.

Black and White House Museum
Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 February, 10am to 4pm.

Meet Owain Leech, who will be happy to treat any aches, pains and illnesses, using the latest 16th Century methods!  The Renaissance Surgeon is at the Black and White House Museum. Normal admission charges apply, and children go free.

Brockhampton Winter Wildlife Trail
Saturday 18 to Sunday 26 February, between 10am and 5pm.

Wrap up warm and enjoy the great outdoors at Brockhampton, with fun activities to enjoy.  Follow the trail and find out more about the different animals that visit Brockhampton's orchards during the winter.  Not all animals hibernate at this time of year - discover what they've been getting up to.  Trails are £3 each, with a prize included. Normal admission charges apply.

Cathedral Escape Room
Solve the Escape Room, an immersive clue-cracking and decoding game, hosted in the Old Chapel in the Cloisters, in 1890!  Can you prove that you are innocent, and be released from the Old Chapel?  You have just one hour to work out who has committed the crime. Suitable for groups of up to six people, costing £60 total per session (for ages 11+), though groups of under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.

Creative Minds at Queenswood - Family Art event
Thursday 23 February, between 10.30am to 3.30pm

Take some time this half-term to join in with a family art event, to create a collaborative family artwork. All ages and generations encouraged.  It costs £5 per family, and it's at The Yurt at Queenswood.

Dirty Feet CIC

Monday 20 February and Tuesday 21 February, from 10am to 3pm.

Parkour, breakdance and tricks @TheCore in Hereford. A place costs £20.  Booking is required through Dirty Feet Facebook (booking form to secure your space).

Green Spider Climbing
Scale new heights and get climbing at Green Spider!  With sessions and activities for kids as small as four years old or fun for the whole family, it’s a great day out!  There’s even a great café that serves coffee, cake and snacks for spectators.

Halo family swim
Families can enjoy a family swim session for just £5 during half term, a great way to have fun and spend time together (for up to 2 adults and 4 children). The offer is available at Hereford Leisure Pool, Leominster Leisure Centre, Ledbury and Ross swimming pools. Bookings can be made through Halo.

Hereford Squash, Tennis and Racketball Centre
Monday 20 to Wednesday 22 February, 9.30am to 2.30pm.

Fun February tennis and multisport movement camp. A great chance to see what the Hereford squash tennis and racketball centre do.  It’s £35 per day, £100 per week. Recommended for ages 5 to 14.

Herefordshire Libraries
Join Fizz Pop Science at libraries throughout Herefordshire this half term and you too can be a Crazy Chemist! From colour changing liquids to slimy putty, this is sure to get a reaction from everyone. There will even be a cool mini explosion (and a super slime pot of your own to take home). Sessions are free, recommended for 5 to 12 year olds. Bookable through the libraries Eventbrite page. At Hereford, Ledbury, Leominster, Kington, Ross-on-Wye libraries.

Hereford Museums and Art Gallery – Herefordshire Hoard Family Activity Day
Tuesday 21 February, from 10am to 3pm.

Delve in to the world of Vikings, and come and see the Herefordshire Hoard at our Family Activity Day. Discover the story behind this fascinating treasure trove, and see what’s been recovered. The Herefordshire Hoard is an Anglo-Saxon and Viking age hoard buried around 878.  No need to book, just turn up on the day.

HOPE Centre, Bromyard
Monday 20 February, 3 sessions available - 10am, 11.30am or 2pm.

Join Kids in the Kitchen on for an action packed cooking session in the Hope centre community café. A great opportunity for children to explore their senses and to learn about healthy foods with the fun factor!  Children aged 2-11 are welcome to join with their parents/carers to decorate their own chef hat, prepare a home cooked lasagne, garlic bread and mini cheesecakes! £2 per child. Booking is essential, call 01885 488495 to ensure you don't miss out.

Hunderton Community Garden Association

Monday 20 and Wednesday 22 February, 1pm to 3pm

Hunderton Community Garden Association are holding 'Come & Play' sessions during the half term.  Join Amy and Vic, for fun afternoons.

Kingsland: the Familiar Treasures project - Heritage Heroes!
Wednesday 22 February, from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm.

Fantastic creatures, weird and wonderful drawings. Join in a day of free family fun and creativity at Kingsland Church, in the company of illustrator and ceramicist Lucy Baxendale (as seen on Channel 4's Great Pottery Throwdown) .  Drawing inspiration from the beautiful surroundings of Kingsland Church, come and create your own Zines and Grotesques.  The Zines session start at 10am - create weird and wonderful drawings, and your very own magazines to take away!  The Grotesques session starts at 2pm - look up and marvel at the fantastic creatures that guard our old buildings, then design your own grotesques, using terracotta clay.  Suitable for children 7-11 years and their families. Madley Environment Centre
Tuesday 21 February to Thursday 23 February

Campfire and woodland games. Cook tasty treats over an open fire and enjoy a scavenger hunt through the woods. £8 per child, and adults go free. Book your place now.

Newbridge Farm Park, near Ledbury
Saturday 18 to Saturday 25 February (closed Sunday 19), between 10.30am and 4pm.

From tractor rides and treasure hunt, through to zipwires, climbing frames, go karts in the barn and hay bale tunnels. Loads of fun for kids this half term. Tickets bookable through website.

Oaks Holiday Club
Open Monday 20 to Friday 24 February

Fire and Ice themed days to add to the fun and excitement for children. Opportunities for adventure, knowledge and skills for 4-13 year olds. Full days (8.30am to 4pm) cost £25 (£22 for siblings). Revive Community Cafe - Stay and Play
Thursday 23 February from 10am to 12pm

Lots of fun for 0-5 year olds exploring natural materials and story and song time.  Activities include free play.  It's free entry for Stay and Play @ Revive Community Cafe, and there's a children's menu available.

The Art Studio, Ross-on-Wye
Monday 20 to Friday 24 February, between 10am and 2pm

February half-term creative workshops for children, with different activities on different days. There’s Listening Sticks, Recycled sketchbooks and a Bug Day!  For ages 6+. It’s £5 per child for 30 minutes of activity. Booking is required.

The Courtyard Theatre, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Wednesday 22 to Saturday 25 February, with matinees and evening performances.

Laughs and mishaps with the telling of the traditional Snow White story, pantomime time. Featuring the wicked step mother, hapless servants and the seven adorable Dwarfs. Hereford Amateur Pantomime Society are excited to present the pantomime at The Courtyard Theatre.

The Courtyard Theatre - An Introduction to Stage Combat
On Saturday 25 February at 11am

Do you want to know what techniques are used to make fights look real on stage? Come along to this workshop with an experienced fight director who will take you through the basics and get you choreographing your very own fight scenarios. There's a free pre-activity from 10.30am, Make your own spy! Recommended for ages 7 years+. £6 for children under 16.

Wild Adventure Club at Queenswood
Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 February, 10am to 3pm

Discover the joy and freedom of being in nature at Queenswood - building and lighting campfires for cooking, learning bush craft skills, den building, hammock hanging and other nature-based activities. For children aged 8 to 12, designed for unaccompanied children. It's £25 per child, per day. Booking though Herefordshire Wildlife Trust website.

We are also holding fun Winter of Wellbeing (WoW) activities and hot food, for completely free, to support families through the cost of living. There are some running through the February half term. Find WoW events
