We offer support to people and families, who might need a little extra help, whether that’s a short term one off or for the longer term. Our help includes:
- Food shopping
- Food boxes
- Cooking and providing a hot meal
- Essential goods shopping
- Collecting prescriptions
- Having someone to talk to
- Dog walking (we will do our best!)
- Looking after livestock
We also support our many local community groups, activities and Black Hill Community Radio, which are listed on our website.

Dorstone’s Front Room

Dorstone’s Front Room, known as DFR, is a volunteer run community meeting place, in the heart of the beautiful Golden Valley.
We offer a variety of different services, such as a lending library, gallery and crafts, postal and office services, newspaper delivery and even a tourist information service. We also have a lovely, cosy café, selling coffees, teas, hot chocolate and cakes, including the best bacon butties for miles around every Friday.
Our Talk Community Hub is open every Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 1pm, where you can pop along and chat with our friendly volunteers and find wellbeing information and signposting to local and countywide services, groups and activities to help support you and your family.

Garway Talk Community Hub is inviting you to their welcoming volunteer-led hubs!
There’s so many things on offer for local residents, so they can get together and get the right kind of support they need over a cuppa and maybe cake!
Tuesday 16 August 2022 between 10.00 – 12.00. It's the perfect opportunity for anyone to rock up, have a cuppa, some cake and find out more of what’s coming.
At each Hub the following is readily available:
- TCHub Reps have access to electronic devices to search helpful websites. Residents can get lots of handy information to help their health and wellbeing, as well find out what services, groups and activities are available within their local community or across the county.
- You are welcome to make a small monetary donation to the TCHub refreshments.
- Outreach Services:
- Hereford Council Honesty Library
- Post Office Outreach, delivering post office support in rural areas (every Tuesday 09.30-11.30)
- Community donated books available to read on site or take home for a donation in a jar
Home Workers TCHub:
Tuesdays 09.30-11.30 (excluding first Tuesday of the month)
Bringing remote workers together to chat and share ideas over a cuppa or just a change of scenery to sort your emails.
09.00-12.00 second Saturday of the month
Bringing families and friends of all ages together to enjoy refreshments and bring own crafts like knitting, sewing, scrap booking, water colour painting, board games. Skills share to help inspire someone to learn a new craft! Some activities can be provided like chess & draughts, water colour pallets and brushes, patterned sheets using hub brush pens. More activities in the pipeline!
Community Coffee Morning (“pop up” in established monthly activity)
Tuesday 10.00-12.00 first Tuesday of the month and the TCHub reps will be there as a “Pop Up” on hand at the well-established community coffee morning to enjoy socialising with a wide range of people.
School Drop Off Drop In:
Tuesday mornings (Term Time Only) 08.30 to 09.15, the honesty café is available, self-service refreshments as a pit stop to gather thoughts, use the facilities, before dashing off to continue the days tasks. Our community hub, run by C.A.R.E. (Herefordshire) CIC, is a friendly, warm and inviting venue, where you can meet old or new friends, get involved in a range of fantastic weekly activities and even join our community gym.
If you'd like wellbeing information or signposting to services, groups or activities taking place in and around Pontrilas or perhaps across the county, our fully trained, friendly volunteers can help. Please note that due to Covid-19 restrictions, our hub is only available via telephone or e-mail, so please get in touch on 01981 240235 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Stables Café, Madley, Hereford, HR2 9QZ
Open: 1st & 3rd Thursday each month, 10.00 – 14.00
Our volunteers will be on hand in this delightful community cafe to help you find wellbeing information and signpost you to local and countywide services, groups and activities to help support you and your family.
We use tablet computers to access online services. We can also print relevant information for you to take away.
Please note, the Stables Café is accessed through the churchyard.

Our Talk Community Hub is available every Tuesday to Thursday, between 11am and 3pm, whilst the Hub Café is open.
The Hub offers a range of activities for the Golden Valley community throughout the year. It also provides wellbeing support and signposting assistance, which includes use of laptops to access online services, help to set up 1:1 support meetings, transport assistance, workshops, courses and events for people of all ages. The Hub also houses a welcoming community café and a small community library.
In partnership with Peterchurch Parish Council and Peterchurch Village Hall, we're also currently providing a daily Covid-19 Helpline from 11am to 2pm on 01981 551143. This is for local people who may need some additional support, assistance or simply want someone to talk to.
