Children with a hearing or visual impairment (0 - 4 years old)

Early years advisory team

Many children with a visual or hearing impairment attend their local childcare provision and are able to progress into mainstream primary and secondary school. Support and training for children in pre-school settings is available for the setting from Herefordshire Council's early years advisory team.

Hearing impairment team

If your child has been referred to Herefordshire Council's hearing impairment team by the Children's Hearing Centre, they will provide specialist support to the childcare setting, and also for children and young people of compulsory school age. For information about diagnosis, visit the children's hearing service section on the Wye Valley NHS Trust website.

Visual impairment team

If your child has been referred to Herefordshire Council's visual impairment team by the hospital eye unit, they will provide specialist support to the childcare setting. For information about diagnosis, visit the ophthalmology section on the Wye Valley NHS Trust website.
