Be prepared this winter
04 January 2022

Let Talk Community help you make sure you’re prepared for winter, whatever the weather may throw at us!
It’s always best to plan ahead, so if severe weather hits the county or you have to isolate due to Covid, you’ll have peace of mind that everything is taken care of.
Start by thinking about the support you will need on a daily basis and who will be able to help you. This could be family, friends, neighbours or people you know in your local community. Your plan might include support with things you usually take for granted, such as shopping, collecting medication, posting mail, having a chat with someone or just walking the dog.
Make sure you have contact numbers for everyone on your plan, so you can quickly get in touch, if you need some additional support.
For more top tips to help you be prepared, visit our be prepared in case of an emergency page.
Local support
There are hundreds of fantastic organisations and community groups across Herefordshire, which may be able to offer support, if and when you need it.
To see what’s available in your local area, take a look at our services and groups directory.
Wye Valley NHS Trust have produced "Your guide to healthcare services in Herefordshire this winter", with useful contacts to have to hand. You can download a copy of the guide.
Talk Community Hubs
We also have our fantastic Talk Community Hubs (34 and counting!), where you can pop along, grab a cuppa and meet new friends, along with finding out about local services, groups and activities in your local community or across the county.
To keep up to date with all our hubs, as we’re adding more all the time, visit www.talkcommunitydirectory.org/hubs.
