It’s Mental Health Awareness Week (15th – 21st May) and this year’s theme is anxiety. Anxiety is something that occasionally we can all experience; it can affect our behaviour, our mind and our body and is so personal to us that it can be triggered by many different situations. If we don’t know how to cope with our feelings of anxiety, they can get out of control and stop us from doing the things we need or want to do.
There are a whole host of practical actions we can take if we feel ourselves getting anxious, from focussing on our breathing to connecting with others. This Mental Health Awareness Week Better Health are encouraging you to ‘make the first move for your mental health’. Physical activity is one of the best things we can do for our mental wellbeing. When we are active, the body releases feel-good hormones that can improve our mood and boost our energy.
