Talk Community is bringing Herefordshire together

Join our Talk Community volunteers and give an hour this summer

Talk Community has been launched today by Herefordshire Council at the start of Volunteers’ Week (1 - 7 June).

Talk Community aims to make Herefordshire a better place to work and live in.  The council is working alongside residents, businesses, community leaders and health colleagues to encourage everyone to play their part in achieving this.

We’re asking people to consider:

  • How can I help myself?
  • How can I help my community?
  • How can my community help me?

Being part of Talk Community is as simple as providing little acts of kindness like looking out for your neighbours or volunteering to help out at one of our Talk Community Hubs.

There are already 20 volunteer run Talk Community Hubs active in communities across the county, offering information and signposting to local residents, with many more hubs planned in the future.  To find a hub near you, visit www.talkcommunitydirectory.org/findahub.

Councillor Pauline Crockett, Cabinet member for Health and Adult Wellbeing, said: “Our communities are the beating heart of Herefordshire.  During the 2019 and 2020 floods and the more recent pandemic, Herefordshire residents have proven their resilience by pulling together to support the vulnerable residents in our local communities.

“To celebrate the launch of Talk Community, we are encouraging all residents to join other volunteers across the county and give an hour to support their local communities this summer.  We estimate if everyone in Herefordshire gave an hour it would mean over 192,000 hours of support to our local communities.  It is incredible to think that this works out at over 22 years of positive action in Herefordshire alone.”
