Have you experienced a mental health problem?  Can you turn your hand to painting, drawing or perhaps writing a poem or short story?

FurtherBeyond, in partnership with Hereford Men’s Mental Health (HMMH) Group, is an online initiative that encourages men with mental health related problems, to try their hand at writing short stories or poems about their day to day life and activities.

A new book is planned for later this year, which will be full of local writing and artwork contributions, but the team need even more fantastic and creative submissions from across Herefordshire.

Can you help?

You don’t need to have any experience, so why not flex your creative muscles and see what you come up with?  They’re looking for…

  • Stories and poems, specifically by men, on any subject
  • Artwork by anyone of any gender, who has experienced mental ill-health, loneliness or low mood

If you need some inspiration, take a look at what others have already contributed, from light hearted stories to poems about friendship, loneliness and loss.  If you’d like a little help to get started, there’s also free writing coaching available by Zoom and e-mail, during the current social distancing measures.

To find out more or make a submission, contact Leonie at further.beyond@outlook.com or visit FurtherBeyond.net.

If you or someone you know, is experiencing mental health problems, please take a look at our mental health and wellbeing page for information, advice and signposting to local and national support organisations.
