Healthy Start is an NHS scheme that helps eligible women who are pregnant or families with young children to get free foods every week.

The Healthy Start card helps to buy foods such as milk fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables and infant formula, access to free vitamins is also available.

  • Visit the Healthy Start website to find out how much you'll get, how to activate your card, where you can shop and how to spend on your Healthy Start card. 
  • If you are eligible for a Healthy Start card, ask your midwife or health visitor about where to access free vitamins. 

 

Herefordshire Children's Centres offer early help to make sure children have the best possible start in life. 

There is a food bank or community larder in each of the county’s market towns and city. You may need to be referred by a qualifying organisation or have a voucher to access the service, but if you contact your nearest food bank directly, they’ll be able to advise on the process.
